What are SI rod ends?

"SI" rod ends are "female" type rod ends. They have a threaded hole and can be sealed or unsealed, with or without maintenance. They are manufactured from C45 steel to DIN 648 series E standards.

What are the different types of SI rod ends?

  • SI..E/ES rod ends: these are rod ends with a steel/steel sliding combination. They are not sealed and require lubrication. They are suitable for high, alternating and shock loads.
  • SI..ES 2RS rod ends: similar to SI..E/ES rod ends, but with an additional seal.
  • SI..C rod ends: these are non-sealed rod ends with a steel-on-bronze PTFE combination. These rod ends require no special maintenance. This rod end is used for operation with constant unilateral loads and slow movements.
  • SI..C 2RS rod ends: similar to the SI..C rod end, but sealed.

What is the difference between "SI" and "TSF" rod ends?

There are two main distinctions between "SI" and "TSF" rod ends:

  1. The combination of sliding surfaces: SI" rod ends feature a sliding surface configuration of steel/steel or steel-on-bronze synthesized with PTFE, depending on the model. On the other hand, for "TSF" ferrules, the combination of sliding surfaces varies between steel/bronze or steel/PTFE, depending on the type of ferrule.
  2. In terms of dimensions, "SI" type ferrules have a larger external head diameter than "TSF" type ferrules, but are thinner.
