Need help or advice to choose your belt?

We share a few tips with you

There are many belt variants, even of a similar type. We will help you to identify the belt you want to replace, step by step. To begin, make sure to check where the belt part number is located. Even if the belt is old and damaged, there are often a few letters or numbers still legible that will simplify your search. This part number is visible on the flat surfaces of your belt, or on the packaging of your belt if you purchased it separately. If you have the reference of your belt, enter it here. If no reference is visible, keep your original belt on hand, it will be useful one last time, and follow the guide!

You found an inscription on your belt? Good news, most of the work is done! Usually you will be able to read the belt reference, often in the form of a few letters followed by numbers. This should be enough to accurately identify the belt in the search bar to the side. Useful information: length is often indicated on your belt, but which length exactly? The or La = outside length Lp, Ld or Lw = primitive length Li = internal length

We suggest this questionnaire in 4 steps in order to refine your research.

1
Which range does your belt belong to?

A V-belt (smooth or toothed) is mounted on a smooth pulley without teeth. It will be held in place and perform well thanks to its tension on the pulleys. A toothed belt has teeth, which will match the teeth of the pulley. For the other variants, the pictures and photos that we provide allow you to easily identify yours.

Measure your belt?

Measuring the length of your belt is the most delicate part of its identification. Indeed, your old belt is often damaged, slackened, or even severed! Here are the best tips to find out your belt's measurement:

- The belt is still complete:
Draw a chalk line inside your belt, then measure from the line, along the inside of the belt, until you get back to the line. You then have a good estimate of the inner length of your belt! You can do the same operation on the outer side of your belt to get a second measurement. Two opinions are better than one!
Also, you can use a specific tool called a MESLA ruler to measure your belt.

- The belt is cut, severed :
A severed belt does not allow you to take its measurement easily, you will have to measure, with a tape measure, the most precise length possible, which will correspond approximately to the original length of the same new belt.
You can also use the method below, for belts that can't be identified, for a second estimate of the length of your belt.
No method belt dimension identification is faultless, so there is always a risk of error*.

- The belt is disaggregated, non-existent, or lost:
The situation is not the easiest, but there are solutions! We recommend using your pulleys and a long piece of string to estimate the required belt length:
Put the string on the pulleys, properly stretched, and measure the length that this represents. This is a rough estimate of the internal length of the belt.
